While we were visiting family in Ohio we had the opportunity to attend a cousin, Nick, and Bridgette's wedding on June 30th. We were all so excited for this day and so excited for them! They have been together for awhile and were hoping to be able to set their wedding date for when we were all going to be there and we're so glad they did.
Nick and Bridgette's wedding day was definitely unique. For more reasons than one they had quite a special day. Friends and family from both sides gathered in the Fredonia Baptist Chapel to witness the union of Nick and Bridgette. This chapel is where Grandma and Grandpa Brewster had been attending church services for many years so I think that was a little something that helped make their day even more special. And if I remember right the chapel completely filled up leaving some people standing during the ceremony.
One very obvious thing that made their day even more special was that there was no power! Yes, there was absolutely no electricity! That day I think the temperature was at least 105 with roughly 60% humidity...with no AC!!! Let me tell ya, that chapel was like a sauna. A smelly sauna though because as you can imagine a chapel full of people in that kind of heat without any AC will most definitely result in some persperation. Luckily, somehow, Bridgette was able to find somewhere to even shower for her wedding day but since there wasn't any power she wasn't able to do her "wedding hair-do." A terrible thing for a bride I think. However, she has beautiful long, dark brown hair that seemed to dry pretty straight so even though she didn't get to do her hair the wa she wanted she still looked gorgeous!
Now, this was only the second wedding I'd ever gotten the opportunity to photograph but it being in a chaple I really was not sure what sort of "guidelines" there might be. I'm glad Grandma was able to ask her pastor before the ceremony started or I most likely would have disrupted things more than I probably already did. Oops! I'm glad I was able to get some decent pictures inside though, considering the lack of lighting.
The ceremony was short but beautiful. Probably the way Nick and Bridgette wanted it considering how hot it was. After the ceremony everyone headed to the Sportsman's Club where they were having their reception. I thought this area was so pretty just for the fact that they had their reception by the pond that had a bridge going out to an island in the middle with a windmill on it. It looked like something you'd find in a magazine!
To photograph Nick and Bridgette's wedding, another cousin, Stephanie, and myself both sort of tag-teamed for pictures. I've decided I like having sort of a second photographer because half the time I'm caught up taking pictures that I already have in mind and I feel like a second photographer can really get the ones that I may miss or simply don't think of so thanks a bunch to Steph for being so awesome!
So I guess from the ceremony through the few formal pictures I got here are the photos from their wedding day...
Despite it being ridiculously hot and humid that day it was definitely a great one! Despite all the sweat, stickiness, and stench it was a day to remember for everyone. I absolutely loved how Nick and Bridgette's wedding was completely crafted around each of them and their personalities. From the colors, to the camo, to the mason jar glasses it was so much fun! So happy for you Nick and Bridgette! So excited for you both as you begin your life together and soon add a precious new member to your family! Can't wait to see the little guy in October!
