Jordan's good friend Tom and his wife were going to Tom's family's timeshare at The Stoneridge Resort in Blanchard, Idaho for Valentines Day weekend. They had it reserved for a week and a half but couldn't stay the entire time so they very gaciously offered it to us for the last 2 1/2 days!

 

 

 

 

When Tom and his wife offered us their timeshare it was about 1 1/2 weeks before we were going to be going but thankfully my supervisor is amazing and let me take 2 days off from work at the last minute. So the morning of the 18th we headed out early, (not as early as Jordan wanted but 6:30 was plenty early for me) and got on the road to start our 8-ish hour drive up north. We basically turned it into a late Valentine's Day/family vacation. What made me most nervous about the trip, and almost changed my mind about the whole thing, was how Wyatt would handle the drive. He'd done Boise trips a couple times and did great once and alright the other so Jordan and I had to prepare ourselves as best we could. Wyatt actually did pretty good on the way there. There were maybe a 2 hour time frame in the middle of the drive there that he was getting fussy and just wanted to get out but for the most part the trip there went well.

There was a gas station/gift shop just on the border of Montana and Idaho that we stopped at on the way there. It claimed it was the biggest gift shop in Montana and I think that was pretty accurate. It was huge! Jordan found the traditional birthday gift for Kendra of a Painted Pony there. And the best part of all...huckleberry milkshakes! Oh.my.goodness! They were delicious! Probably the best milkshake I've ever had it was that amazing! A little spendy but we all just shared one and man was it worth it. And of course Wyatt loved it too : ) Stopping there on our way home was already on the list.

We got to the resort about 3:30 pm, got all of our luggage packed into our room, and went out to start exploring everything the resort had to offer. They had a huge recreational center with a couple racketball courts, huge basketball court, huge swimming pool, hot rub, kitchen/entertaining floor upstairs with a big tv, and a gym. It was pretty nice! At the end of the condos was a little playground area with picnic tables and BBQ grills. Wyatt loved playing on the toys. Mostly just climbing all around and playing with a built in megaphone they had.

After exploring a little around the resort we got back in the car, which Wyatt was not super crazy about, and went exploring to find us some wildlife. And boy did we find some! Tons of deer and elk in people's own backyard. A couple of the homes by the resort were beautiful. I was honestly close to walking right up to the door and asking to see their home.

In our room there was a queen size bed, a couch that turned out into another queen size bed, little table, kitchenette, and bathroom. I tell you what, having that little kitchen was perfect! For several reasons. First, we cooked all of our meals except for one ourselves to save money. And two, it felt like I had my own kitchen for the first time in a year! Even if it was only for a couple days, it was really nice. So, that night Jordan, Wyatt, and I walked down to this BBQ/playground area they had and grilled us up some delicious steaks! Which was a great idea because Jordan likes to use the leftover steak to make steak and cheese quesadillas so lunch for the next day was already planned.

The next day Jordan got up early to go horn hunting (I know surprise surprise right?!) Wyatt and I woke up and started to make breakfast. I'd say it worked out pretty well for Jordan. After breakfast we decided to go hiking/horn hunting (again, surprise surprise right?). It took us longer than expected to figure out where we could actually park to go hiking/horn hunting (where it was legal to horn hunt) so we didn't go for too long of a hike but it sure was pretty.

After our hike we got back to the resort and decided to go to the recreation center and go swimming. As soon as Jordan said swimming Wyatt was so excited. I tell you what, this little guy is definitely a Knapp because he did not get that swimming desire from his mama. First we decided to go and play a little basketball. Telling Wyatt we were going to go swimming but go play basketball first was not the best idea. He didn't even want to go into the gym, let alone play basketball. He wanted to go swimming! Jordan and I played a game of PIG then headed to the pool. The pool was a bit chilly so Wyatt didn't like it as much as he usually does but he still swam around a bit with daddy and loved to jump to daddy. We spent a few minutes in the hot tub then headed back to our room, made dinner, then got ready for bed.

 

The next morning we made a quick breakfast, got everything packed, and headed out around 9:00 am. Of course we stopped and got lunch and another huckleberry shake! Yummy!

 

Wyatt did pretty well on the way home. There was a couple hours in the middle of the drive that he was grumpy so we took a little break to stretch and such but finally got back home about 7:00 pm. Even though it was a whole lot of driving for only a couple days. It was totally worth it! Just being able to get away from the normal and Jordan, Wyatt, and I being ablet to have time to ourselves was wonderful!

 

2-20-2015...heading home...happy traveler with his goldfish crackers...he's definitely my son!
