{ 7 Months }

So I've been getting ahead of myself for the last several months. And by several I mean like 7 months! And I feel rather silly but this whole time I've been counting how fast Wyatt is growing up by weeks not the actual day. If that doesn't make sense just forget about it and don't try to understand where my brain has been because I honestly couldn't tell ya. So the last "nice" picture is from when he turned 7 months old according to the number of weeks. To be honest I don't understand why I'd been counting it that way nor why it's typically counted the way it is but oh well.

Anyways, since his 6 month post Mr. Wyatt has had a few exciting developments. First off, I am happy/sad/nervous to announce that we have a roller on our hands! He'd rolled from his belly to his back a couple times in the past as well as from his back to his belly a couple times but that'd been in until the last couple weeks. Now, once you lay him down, he just rolls, especially if there's something he wants but is out of reach just a little bit.

He's gotten more vocal too. Especially in church : ) It's so stinkin' cute to hear him "talk." I love it! He'll say just simple things now like "da da" or sometimes it sounds like "du du" and sometimes "ba ba." Whenever he says "da da" fast enough it definitely sounds like he's saying "dada" so I think Jordan was pretty happy about that. It's kind of funny too because a couple times it's come out sounding more like "du du" and everyone calls Jordan's brother Dustin "Du" a lot of the time so since then Dustin's been teasing Jordan saying Wyatt's going to say Dustin's name before his own daddy's. Oh how these Knapp boys like to tease each other!

A couple months ago Wyatt was trying to put his lips together and blowing which eneded up more like spitting but Kelly noticed and was doing it back to him which of course just made him want to do it back even more. So, with that in mind, picture that when it comes to eating. Yeah! Messy right? Wyatt has been doing really really well when it comes to eating solid foods. For those that don't know I decided to make all the baby food for Wyatt instead of buying jars of baby food. I bought this baby food maker here off Amazon called the Beaba Babycook Pro Baby Food Processor and Steamer. I had looked at several baby food makers, including the Baby Bullet but I really liked this one for a couple different reasons but the main reason was because I only have to use one appliance that will cook and blend the food together. Mine and Jordan's house isn't very big so the less space it takes up the better. And this thing is small yet will make a decent amount of baby food. I already had a couple other kitchen gadgets that makes it super easy to hurry and slice up a lot of the food really fast so that's been nice. And this one will steam the food so it preserves a lot more of the nutrients. Plus it only takes 15 minutes to cook it! It's definitely been more work than just opening a jar of food but it's been so worth it. I know my baby gets the most nutritious food I can give him and another plus...cheaper! If anything sometimes there's some fruit that'll be a couple cents more than just a jar of food but overall it's been great for saving some extra money. And what's kind of funny is I had a couple jars at Jordan's parent's house one weekend, I gave him one of the jars for dinner and he didn't eat it nearly as well as he had the homemade food. Apparently he likes the plain, simple baby food better. Okay so there's my spill about homemade baby food : ) Moving on...Wyatt has been doing really well with eating the solid foods I've given him. We started when he was exactly 6 months old with just rice cereal and lets just say we couldn't shovel it into his mouth fast enough. He loved it! And I don't really know why because I mean have you tasted the stuff? Yucky! We've been pretty good about waiting a few days in between foods to see if his body handles it alright so then I gave him apples which of course he loved! Next we tried green beans and that one was a no go for sure! Then I even tried carrots and that one didn't fly either. At that point I was a little worried he wasn't going to like anything besides fruit and rice cereal but we kept trying new veggies for a few weeks and to this day have found about 10 veggies that he really likes:

Veggies:
  • acorn squash
  • butternut squash
  • spaghetti squash
  • yellow squash
  • zucchini
  • sweet potatoes
  • yams
  • parsnips
  • carrots (why he likes them now but didn't before I don't know)
  • avocados

Fruits:
  • apples
  • pears
  • mangos
  • bananas

I've also made chicken and rice to put in some of his dishes but he didn't seem to like either of those very much. He'll eat them both if there's a lot more veggies than the chicken and rice.

7 Months Old...ish : )

Getting closer to Christmas I have more than ever to be thankful for. I have a hardworking hubby who loves Wyatt and I SO much! I absolutely love seeing Jordan interact and talk to Wyatt. He's constantly telling Wyatt how much he loves him and how cute he is! It really is adorable! And those that know Jordan even a little bit are probably thinking to themselves, "Really?!" Yep, Jordan really is a softy at heart my friends.

Before Wyatt came into my life I'd heard a lot of my friends and other women talk about how much joy comes along with having a baby. They couldn't have been more right. The amount of joy is incomprehensible and the type of joy is indescribable. I think back to how my life was before I had Wyatt and there's no comparison. Don't get me wrong, before Wyatt came I still had a great life, but the pure joy I've felt with Wyatt is beyond priceless. I am so grateful for Wyatt and to Heavenly Father for allowing me to be Wyatt's mama. I love my little man to pieces and couldn't imagine not having him in my life!

  1. Danyel, I did the exact same thing the first few months for Avenn! Why do we count weeks for pregnancies, but measure baby's age by days of the month? Too confusing for new mommy's! Little Wyatt is such a pretty baby :)
