{ 2 Months Old }

Well looks like another month has come and gone and my sweet little Wyatt is now 2 months old! Seriously where is the time going to?! If anyone finds it let me know because I still can't believe my little man is 2 months old!

Technically Wyatt's 2 month Dr.'s appointment is next Friday the 19th so no stats to report yet but man oh man has this little guy changed a bunch over the last month. At 6 weeks old we were at Jordan's parent's house where Jordan found a luggage scale and we decided to weigh our little guy just for fun. At 6 weeks he weighed in at 9.3 pounds So this "little" guy put on roughly 2 pounds in a month! Then today I went to work to visit everyone and show off my handsome man where I decided to weigh him on the scale at work. So 2 weeks after he was weighed with the luggage scale he weighed in at 10.6 pounds. I guess we're looking at roughly a pound every 2 weeks? I started putting him in size 1 diapers at about 7 1/2 weeks. Is it sad that I put off moving him up a size in diapers as long as I could? Cause I did. Finally after one too many leaks out the sides and some close calls with blow-outs up the back I caved and busted out the bigger diapers. But I can still say he's my little boy because he's still wearing newborn clothes. There's a couple sleepers and one onesie that are a little too snug but other than that he's still in all his newborn clothes. He's definitely gotten bigger though because there's a handful of onesies in the 0-3 month range that he can fit in now. A couple still have some room in them, especially height wise but not too shabby I guess. On the note of diapers Wyatt doesn't hate it quite as much as he used to. He'll still cry a bit if he's getting changed but just woke up but it doesn't last nearly as long as it used to so mommy and daddy like that.

He is kicking and using those little legs of his like nobody's business. It kinda looks like he's pedaling in place sometimes. He likes to stand up, try to stand up on mine or Jordan's laps. I told Jordan he's gonna have one awesome vertical because he's been really using his legs lately. The muscles in his neck are definitely 10 times stronger also. He's able to hold his head up way more steady and for longer periods of time. We don't like to let him hold it up without our hand behind him though. Sometimes he'll be holding it up then one slight movement sends his head falling backwards or forwards. Scary for both mama and baby. But boy oh boy does he like to look around. At everything! He still really enjoys laying on the couch looking towards the windows. When he gets his diaper changed you can still catch him laying on the changing table staring out the window that faces the backyard. Most of the time, especially when he gets his diaper changed in the morning, I let him lay on the changing table for maybe 15-20 minutes just staring out the window, kicking his legs, talking and smiling at me standing next to him. If I sit in our rocker/recliner in the living room he likes to either lay on my lap with my knees up or be held up to stare out the window better...

6 1/2 Weeks Old

 I'm having trouble finding an exact date for this video but I believe Wyatt is about 6 weeks old here.

He's definitely even more awake during the day. Especially the last couple weeks. He'll act like he's tired still yet fight going to sleep. Or he'll actually fall asleep in my arms but shortly after he gets set down somewhere to sleep some more he's wide awake wanting to be looking around everywhere and often times wanting to be held. He loves when you talk to him and has started making all sorts of those cute baby sounds back. Jordan loves it when he "coos." He still recognizes my voice pretty fast and will follow me around the room if he's laying on the couch. Jordan has become more recognizable to him also. Voice and face.

His eating routine has changed a little bit but not much. He still tends to get hungry about every 3 hours during the day, unless he's sleeping of course then it can be a little longer. At night he just started sleeping longer through the night sleeping at least 5 hours, a few times up to 7 hours without needing to be fed so those most recent times he's been waking up between 4:00 am-5:00 am. Luckily he still falls right back asleep after getting up to eat that one time in the middle of the night. Halfway through nursing on one side he's started to get very squirmy. So all you mommy's out there reading this. Did any of your babies begin to get very squirmy in the middle of nursing? Like Wyatt will nurse for 5 minutes, start to get all squirmy, unlatch, re-latch, unlatch, re-latch, etc. So it basically goes in that order of unlatching and re-latching until he's nursed for at least the normal length of time for the first side. Also, he still usually acts very squirmy when I try to burp him after each side. Sometimes he's just fine when I try to burp him in the laying on his stomach position. Most of the time he's been very squirmy and fussy when I try to burp him sitting up on my lap. Answers or suggestions? Good news is he hasn't been nursing for nearly as long as he used to so that's nice for mama. That little sucking power of his has gotten a lot stronger so I guess he just doesn't need to nurse as long.

When it comes to the cuddle department things have unfortunately changed a little. Little Wyatt doesn't seem to like falling asleep on my chest nearly as much as he used to. He still will once in awhile but for the most part he likes to be rocked to sleep in the typical laying down against my chest position. I read babies go through another growth spurt at 2 months. I think once Wyatt hit that 2 month mark he definitely started to grow more. Not that I've noticed this dramatic growth in him over the last month but I wonder if he's been a little achy from growing possibly? The last couple days he just didn't seem as happy as he once was unless he was being held in the laying down rocking position, being held up so he could look around, or was sleeping. My little man is definitely more fussy at night which I've read at 2 months is pretty normal for most babies. Part of it I think is because a lot of babies, Wyatt included, is more gassy at night. I've been giving him some gas drops at night the last week or so which I think have been helping. The last few days I think his fussiness has gotten less usually only being between 5-8 then after that he's just as happy as he usually is in the morning. I think Jordan especially likes that so he's happier shortly after he gets home from work.

Bath time has gotten much much better. In fact, Wyatt is now a huge fan of bath time! Like I think this little guy would stay in the water half the day if I'd let him and if the water would stay warm enough. He smiles, "coos," and is of course looking around everywhere. Especially out the window that is right behind the sink. And FYI, I'm loving the bath tub I bought. It's called a Blooming Bath and yes it's technically a huge blue flower but Wyatt and I both love it. For the first 3 weeks or so I would just put a towel in the bottom of the sink and hold him myself to bath him. That worked all fine and dandy but I didn't like how he still kinda slipped all around a little. Made bath time a little more tricky but I guess it still worked. So finally I broke down and bought the tub on Amazon and I'm so glad I did. With how the petals sort of fold up forming a soft cushiony wall around the tub I know his neck is supported and even if he kicks around he won't accidentally bonk his head on the back of the sink like he did before. It's basically a fun, colorful piece of foam that you just squeeze out after bath time and can hang dry yet throw in the washer to clean. Perfect!

2 Months Old!

Wyatt's birth announcement!!! Turned out just like I pictured it : )

What can I say? I just love my sweet handsome boy to pieces! I could seriously just squeeze and love on him all day long!

He gave the biggest smile I had seen yet at about 6 weeks old. He was staring at me while I was holding him with his pacifier in his mouth and suddenly I saw this huge grin spread across his perfect little face. It completely melted my heart and the next thing I know I'm crying with happiness giving my sweet boy kisses all over. How did I get so lucky? I thank Heavenly Father each and every single day for sending this precious little life down to Jordan and I. What a huge blessing that's been given to us.

Happy 2 Month Birthday Wyatt!!!

Love,

  1. Eden's been doing the same thing while feeding. I have a friend who is a lactation consultant and she said that whenever they unlatch or squirm or pull their legs up to their belly it is usually a bubble that is bothering them. I'm not sure how true that is, but every time she gets uncomfortable I stop and burp her. She doesn't necessarily burp every time, but she does tend to settle down and feed better. I hope that helps :) Your little guy is so darn adorable! Such a pretty face. And your birth announcement is so fun! So creative :)
