notice the fly on the left side?
If you look at my last post I mentioned how I wanted to make the Hoop Handled Handbag by Delia Creates. Well............I did it! With a few adjustments of course. I wanted mine to be a little skinnier and longer in hopes of fitting all my church books and a binder in it so I changed that part but other than that I followed her tutorial exactly. I even made a pocket on the inside....
Like how it's holding snacks? There's a skinnier pocket on the right of the snacks for pens and stuff too.
Oh for a little while it was a little stressful around our parts because Kenai got hurt and we had to take him to the vet. ***I tried not to be super graphic so I apologize if this is too detailed for some.*** Long story but 3-4 weeks ago we were at Jordan's parent's house, all the dogs were running through the woods by their house like normal. Kenai goes to jump a log. Well, apparently there was a chunk of the log sticking upward where Kenai jumped over it. Basically the piece that was sticking up impaled him right in the joint area of his back leg/lower belly, creating a well...hole in him. Macie comes into the house and tells me Kenai got hurt. I'm thinking she's kidding. Nope, there was blood all over around the area and all over Jordan's hands. We try to get him to let us look at it but he yelps nearly every time so we couldn't really tell how much damage there was so we get a hold of his mom to get the phone number of the vet she'd been taking her dogs to. We get him to the vet at about 8:30 p.m., had to leave him there overnight (the worst feeling about the whole situation), and picked him up the next afternoon. I REALLY did not want to just leave him at the vet by himself. I felt so bad and even cried when we got back to Jordan's parent's. Jordan and I may not have kids of our own yet, but we love our dogs very very much! They are 100% apart of our family. We're counting our blessings that there was no internal damage and somehow didn't even break the membrane separating the skin from the muscle. Basically the wood stuck into him and stretched the skin so much that it ripped. So the "hole" was probably at least 2 inches in diameter. Five stitches and 2 weeks of constant supervision, no swimming, and antibiotics he was a free dog. And we didn't want to spend that much money on a cone to keep him from licking so Jordan's dad made us one out of a flower pot....
he hated that thing
So, in an earlier post I wrote about how Jordan's the new Young Men's 1st Counselor in our ward. Well,...drum roll please...I'm now in Mia Maids in Young Women's!!! To be completely honest I'm not sure exactly what my calling is because there's already a 1st and 2nd Counselor so I'm assuming I'm a secretary? Basically the two ladies that are in Mia Maids right now have tricky work schedules so they needed someone that could fill in whenever needed with lessons and things. Oh and I'm also the supposed "go-to" girl with all the Personal Progress for the girls. Oh, real quick, did anyone out there know how much Young Women's and Personal Progress had changed since we were in it? Okay, now I guess it hasn't changed a ton, but there's definitely a lot of things that are different since I'd been in Young Women's. Like, when we recited the theme my first Sunday there, I thought we were done after "...good works and integrity," nope, now there's "...good work, integrity, and virtue." Who knew? Certainly not me. Oh and after the theme there's also the 13th Article of Faith. New to me. And there's other stuff that's been added to Personal Progress. Let's just say I have some reading to do so I'm caught up on all the new things. In fact, today I just prepared my first lesson for Young Women's! Lesson 28, Consecration and Sacrifice. And for anyone that needs a little help with planning lessons (a lot of people have probably heard about this but I had no idea), Sugardoodle is fantastic! I think it's going to be my best friend for this calling. Here's a glimpse of my lesson for tomorrow........
I have a great object lesson where a Snicker's candybar is involved : )
So wish me luck on my first lesson. I will be teaching to a whopping 4 girls! Ha ha! Yes, I live in a small town and love it!
